Scomi secures contract in Turkmenistan

Scomi Group Bhd (”Scomi”) which is listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia has secured a contract valued at approximately RM157 million in Turkmenistan for the provision of ntegrated services in Drilling Fluids (”DF”) and Drilling Waste Management (”DWM”) . The scope of the contract includes the provision of mud chemicals, mud engineering services, sollids control services, skip rentals and thermal plant services. This contract that was awarded by Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd in Turkmenistan is the single argest contract awarded to Scomi in Turkmenistan thus far.
This is the third contract awarded to Scomi by the same customer, and it reflects the customer’s confidence in Scomi’s ability to provide sound technical integrated services in DF and DWM. The contract is for a duration of three years from May 2008. With this contract, Scomi has captured more than 80% share in both the DF and DWM market in urkmenistan for up to two years. Furthermore, the contract is further testimony that can be added to its portfolio for future independent oil companies coming to Turkmenistan.
Although Scomi only started operations in Turkmenistan at the end of 2005, it has made major inroads into the country with a total of approximately RM201 million worth of contracts secured in 2007 up todate. Scomi’s presence in Turkmenistan is supported by a diversified customer base.
