Subsea 7 signs agreement with Canyon Offshore

Subsea 7, one of the world’s leading subsea engineering and construction companies has signed an exclusive four year agreement with Canyon Offshore Inc. for the provision of offshore oil and gas trenching services “i-Trench”.

i-Trench is an integrated asset solution able to perform all phases of a seabed preparation and trenching campaign in a wide range of seabed conditions. i-Trench encompasses a Canyon Offshore multi-purpose new-build vessel, a new purpose built tracked mechanical cutting trencher “i-Trencher”, the class leading jet trencher “T750-Super-Trencher” and two permanently installed “Triton XLS” work class remotely operated vehicles.

The i-Trencher has been commissioned by Canyon Offshore with Subsea 7’s input to the design and capability requirements to match and exceed the current capabilities of subsea ploughs. It is a state-of-the-art hard soils trencher (+500kPa) with cutting and eduction technology capable of pre-trenching, trenching and backfilling umbilicals and flowlines up to 18” in diameter.
