Unions criticise North Sea operations

Two UK offshore unions, Unite and the OILC, have called on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to investigate Shell’s operations in the North Sea.
The concerns revolve around loss of key personnel after a series of installations were sold to other companies.
Unite and OILC say concerns have been raised about operations on the Cormorant Alpha, Dunlin Alpha, Tern, Eider and North Cormorant installations.
Poor communication between Shell and offshore personnel, and the loss of key safety personnel, are cited as main safety concerns.
Shell and Esso announced in June that their joint operations in the North Sea were to be put up for sale, a move that would directly impact 400 workers.
