Swedish oil could supply 20% of nation’s demand

Approximately 50,000 barrels of oil a day could be extracted in the Swedish area of the Baltic Sea – this would be sufficient to supply one fifth of Sweden’s demands for 2 decades.
Test-drillings close to Gotland, the Baltic Sea island, and the mainland have revealed clear traces of oil. Oljeprospektering AB, the Swedish company aims to implement a thorough search of the sea bed in the Swedish economic zone in the Baltic.
A spokesperson for Oljeprospektering AB remarked that early indications show that there is more oil on the Swedish side and drilling is to commence next year.
Statistics show that Poland pumps between 15,000 and 20,000 barrels a day from its economic zone.
