Story link: Offshore oil discovery at Vietnam’s southern coast by Kay Murchie

Oil has been found at a field off Vietnam’s southern coast and tests have showed a flow rate of 2,500 barrels of oil a day. The oil was discovered by the joint venture of Petrovietnam and Petroliam Nasional Bhd. Each of the companies hold a 50% stake in the oil venture.
About 3 miles northeast of Thang Long field is Dong Do field, where Lam Son JOC said last month it also discovered oil with a flow rate of 4,500 barrels of oil a day.
The two fields are located in the venture’s block 02/97, approximately 50 miles northeast of Bach Ho, Vietnam’s biggest oil field.
