Crude oil prices make significant gains on week

Crude oil prices make significant gains on week

Crude oil prices were up slightly on Friday and more substantially over the week. Brent crude for July delivery added only 11 cents on the day to $71.47 per barrel, but was up 4.2 percent over the week on the Intercontinental Exchange in London. Similarly, West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery was up just 17 cents on the day Friday to $67.82 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. However, it gained 4.7 percent during the week.

Gasoline and heating oil futures on Nymex were up even more during the week. Nymex July gasoline was 4.2 cents higher on Friday to $1.2665 per gallon for a gain of 6.6 percent on the week. Meanwhile, while July heating oil dropped just a bit, to $2.0158 per gallon on the last trading day of the week, it added 2.6 percent over the week.
